We have co-ordinated the volunteer programme on the whale watching boats, the third largest such industry in the world, for some thirty years. There are a range of opportunities both on the whale watching boats with tourists and on our own exclusive research vessel:
A. Guiding on the whale watching boats B. Research: Photo Identification of cetaceans using DSLR cameras Acoustics using a range of Hydrophones Land based (Telescope) monitoring of cetaceans and boat behaviour Plastic pollution both on beaches and on the oceans. C. Education: Running educational workshops in local schools/ youth groups Giving talks to tourists Helping in Information centres Developing educational materials and lesson plans (TES website) Developing educational nature stories to promote conservation issues. D. Conservation: Designing posters E. AOCN (Atlantic Ocean Cetacean Network) Working on conservation, education, research and tourism initiatives across the Atlantic Oceans.
